Okay, first official Offcut! Have actually been quite excited about this and had lots of ideas (especially for what needs to get in the bin). How’s my week been? I’ve spent the bank holiday on yet another solo trip, this time in Copenhagen! A new level of my entirely invented solo travelling ranking system unlocked - travelling to an entirely new place alone.
Last week I finished reading One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I bought the Kindle version a while ago but recently was craving an easy fiction read to make me feel warm inside. I’d been reading too much non-fiction and wanted to get hooked by something. It delivered. The perfect happy-go-lucky romantic novel I was looking for. Gave it 4 stars on Goodreads. An ideal holiday read. Turns out there is in fact a film adaption, released on streaming networks last week. Really timed that well, didn’t I? Reviews so far aren’t great though so don’t hold your breath.
The last week I’ve had an open tab on the booking page of Thin Air, the immersive light show, described as “a transformative journey of experiential installations, through the boundaries of light, sound and space”. It’s in East London, right near City Airport, and it’s on until the start of June. I think I’d really enjoy it. One of the best things I’ve ever experienced was the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show at the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. But still, magical enough to travel outside of zone 2 for?
Sofia Richie’s wedding. So spicy that maybe Nicole Richie actually looked at Paris Hilton and said, “that’s hot” as her little sister said, “I do”. I usually find the coverage of celebrity weddings boring and banal. But this was different. It was completely in sync with what constitutes “successful” social media content today. Candid and unedited; come as you are aesthetic. Minus the three custom-made Chanel gowns I suppose. THAT barefoot dancing video to Good Charlotte singing ‘Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous’. I shall say no more.
I actually spoke about the ways content is changing a few weeks ago, take a look if you’re curious.
This was the easiest and quickest decision to make. Like I said last week, the annoyances come thick and fast. I do not stutter when I say in the bin this week is Coronation Quiche. Take caution when following the link. I don’t even really want to talk about it. I absolutely never want to actually encounter it. I would really like to acknowledge my disgust of it. And then swiftly move on.
Sometime last week when the weather was temperament (miss her) and I was walking among the blossom trees and bluebells in Kennington Park I wrote in the notes on my phone “Spring is a promise”. I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
