It’s a short sweet surprise Thursday snippet, hurray.
I loved Tuesday’s post. Writing it, researching it, stitching it all together. In all honestly, it was very “Drafting” at all. By all accounts, it was arguably quite polished and put together. Can’t say I relate on a personal level. But it was nice to feel like I can produce a neatly wrapped-up piece of work and share it, alongside everything else which has often been trial and error or rolling with an idea to see where it goes. Anyway, thanks for entertaining me and for reading. The floodgates really have only just opened.
Now that I have a range of posts to look at (wow go me) I noticed a running theme. There are many. This is a new one. It seems I like to make puns (that’s not the new bit) about music. I’ve realised lots of titles and subheadings have a spin on lyrics and seen how songs in general have woven their way into my writing. Interesting.
I decided to make a soundtrack for Drafting. Well, Spotify playlist. It’s not necessarily shaped up how I envisioned it would. I have mixed feelings. It’s sort of like Dessert Island Discs I guess. Apart from I didn’t pick the songs, the songs picked me. Excluding Robbie Williams of course. That was an entirely conscious decision.
I thought I’d include some of the more recognisable theme songs from mentioned films and TV shows as well. Mainly just an excuse to include the Sex and The City theme. I’m watching it as I write this. Help.
Other decisions have been made for entertainment purposes. I avoided looking for a piano rendition of Silent Night from Granny’s Front Room. Doesn’t really fit with the vibe. Plus it’s seasonal so it could restrict the potential wide reach of my Spotify playlist, you know? And unless the keys are out of tune it wouldn’t be realistic either. Sadly made another difficult decision when it came to The Wombling Song too (another mention from Granny’s Front Room). Some decisions were made for entertainment purposes, some for my own sanity. I actually couldn’t remember how it went and watched a YouTube video to remind myself, ended up in quite the Womble burrow didn’t I. Turns out there was also a band called The Wombles who dressed up as the characters, had four studio albums and played at Glastonbury. I digress.
I’m going to try and keep on top of it, adding new numbers as I go. Check out the playlist for a trip down memory lane of my posts gone. Picture this: “Drafting - The Musical”.
